As we continue to face the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles and president of the USCCB has invited all United States bishops to join him and the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops on May 1 (this Friday) in renewing the consecrations of the two nations to the care of our Blessed Mother.

This act of consecration or entrustment is meant to be a reminder to the faithful of the Blessed Mother’s witness to the Gospel and to ask for her intercession before her Son on behalf of those in need.

The reconsecration will be at 3 p.m. (EDT) on Friday, May 1. Bishop Ronald Gainer invites all clergy and the faithful to join him by sharing in this experience. Liturgical guides are attached in both English and Spanish to assist those who wish to participate.

The reconsecration will be live streamed on the USCCB Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/usccb) and social media channels, and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ website (lacatholics.org/consecration).

Boy Scout Troop 23 Letters of Support

During this very unusual time in our history, the Boy Scouts of Troop 23 have found themselves in the same situation that all of you are facing.  We are unable to go to school, meet in fellowship, and enjoy our usual activities outdoors.  With the extra time that we have, we wanted to reach out and share our thoughts, our day to day activities, and what we are doing as a Troop.  We know that what we have to offer may not be much, but we wanted to share a little bit of normalcy in the surreal world that in which we are now involved.  Click to read all our Letters of Support

Receive the Graces of Divine Mercy Sunday

The Lord Jesus Christ promised St. Faustina that the soul that has been to Confession and receives Holy Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday will receive the complete forgiveness of all sins and punishment. These are amazing graces to take advantage of on Sunday, April 19, 2020!

Even though churches are closed and you cannot go to Confession and receive Holy Communion, you can still receive these special graces.  Do the acts of trust below with the intent to return to the sacraments of Holy Communion and Confession as soon as possible.

1. Make an Act of Contrition

2. Make a Spiritual Communion

My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.  I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.  Amen.

3. Say a prayer like this:

Lord Jesus Christ, You promised Saint Faustina that the soul that has been to Confession [I’m unable, but I made an Act of Contrition] and the soul that receives Holy Communion [I’m unable, but I made a Spiritual Communion] will receive the complete forgiveness of all sins and punishment. Please, Lord Jesus Christ, give me this grace.  Amen.
