The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me

and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.

The parish Lectors are responsible for proclaiming the Word of God at the Parish liturgies.
- The Lector receives training and materials to effectively carry out their ministry.
- The Lector becomes familiar with the scriptures, learns the meanings and pronunciation of biblical names and places, practices and prepares the readings beforehand, and (unless there is a Deacon present) reads the Prayer of the Faithful.
