The weekend of September 16 & 17, a missionary from the Diocese of Mannar in Sri Lanka will be at St. Catherine’s to share with us his work, ministry and missionary experiences. Your generous sacrifice in the collection makes possible the continuation of this ministry in mission lands. Please pray for the work of this missionary group. Online contributions may also be made through the Missions Office at www.hbgdiocese.org/missions

The Silence of Mary Home.
September 10, 2023
9:30 AM—completed Leo Hall
BACKGROUND
Founded by Sue and Very Rudy in 1999, The Silence of Mary Home is committed to serving Jesus in the chronically poor, whether they live within The Silence of Mary family homes, or in the inner cities of Harrisburg. Working closely with other agencies, they identify individuals that do not have a home or place to go due to mental illnesses or other impairment, or physical disabilities. They may be on a housing list, timed out of a shelter, or kicked out of the home in which they were staying. They are both young and old; they may stay for a short time or for years. Once a person is a member of The Silence of Mary family, regardless of their living situation, they remain in contact. For many, The Silence of Mary has become a resource for life.
To assist in their mission, we are collecting personal hygiene items throughout July and August.
Needed items include sample size:
- Shampoo
- Lotions (hand or body)
- Shaving cream
- Toothpaste
- Soap
- Deodorant
Other needs include toothbrushes, razors, and washcloths, toilet paper.
On Saturday, September 11, 2021, we will participate in the National Day of Service and Remembrance by sorting and assembling these items into personal comfort kits, which will be distributed by The Silence of Mary Home. Click here to sign up today!

Pentecost Collection
The Diocese of Harrisburg was blessed to sponsor 12 Seminarians for priestly formation this past year. But these men need your help. Please pray for them, so that they may be formed as good and holy priests. If you are able, please also financially support their formation through the Pentecost Collection the weekend of May 28. The cost to educate one candidate for the priesthood is over $44,000 per year. This cost goes beyond the classroom, as the Seminarians are provided room, board, healthcare, and other nominal expenses. Please support our future priests through the Pentecost Collection. Gifts may be made using a plain white envelope, online at www.hbgdiocese.org/pentecost-collection

Diocesan Annual Campaign 2023
The 2023 Diocesan Annual Campaign, Together In Faith, Together In the Eucharist has begun. This campaign provides the vast majority of the financial resources needed to operate Diocesan ministries and programs, which in turn provide support for many parish level programs such as Catholic Education, Life and Dignity programming and Vocations. View the 2022 Impact Report video below.
As in the past, previous donors will receive a letter from Bishop Gainer asking for your support of the 2023 campaign. Our parish’s obligation is $159,984.00 This is a decrease of $3,329.00 from last year’s obligation of $163,313.00. We ask that you prayerfully consider your gift for the upcoming year.
