In Pew Collections Resume…in a new way!

Beginning the weekend of July 17/18, the use of baskets to pass from one person o another was instituted in order to allow everyone the opportunity to make a contribution.

At the end of the Universal Prayer, our collection volunteers:

  • retrieve the collection baskets from the back of the church
  • proceed to the front of the church on either side of the pews in each section
  • start at the first and second rows, hand the basket to the worshipper seated on the end, to be passed to the opposite end of the pew
  • upon completion, combine collected monies into the stationary baskets located at the back of church

Two collection volunteers will take the collection baskets to the Sacristy and deposit bag with funds in safe.

We can always use more volunteers! Click here to become part of our Hospitality Ministry!

Bishop Gainer Announces Restoration of Sunday Mass Obligation

NOTE:  Those who are seriously ill or have a serious health risk, are still dispensed.

Dear Brothers and Sisters

Along with the other bishops of Pennsylvania, I give thanks to Almighty God for the progress our country has made in curbing the coronavirus pandemic. Each of us has felt the impact of COVID-19 in many ways as individuals and families, among friends and at work. This has been a time of hardship and struggle, of separation and isolation that has impacted our lives of faith as well. Our Lord Jesus has been near to us throughout this difficult period, especially when we encounter Him in the Holy Eucharist. There He offers us His healing and peace, His mercy and reconciliation. Now the time has come for everyone to return joyfully to the celebration of the Eucharist with thanksgiving and renewed faith.

As life returns to normalcy in many ways, each bishop will reinstate in his diocese the obligation of attending Mass in person on Sundays and Holy Days beginning Sunday, August 15, 2021, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The dispensation from the obligation to attend Mass has been in place since March of 2020 when the developing coronavirus pandemic required people not to assemble in group settings. Now, with the impact of the pandemic considerably reduced, it is possible for the faithful to assemble again for the Eucharist and fitting to restore the obligation.     Read more…

Williams Grove: Friday July 16, 2021 5:30pm-11:00pm

This is a new type of event for us, and maybe a new type of event for you, too! Sprint car racing is a motorsport where fields of 10 to 20 custom-built race cars compete on an oval track, advancing through heat races towards the Main event. It’s a great spectacle to see if you’ve never been to one before. Gates open at 5:30pm. Warm ups begin at 7:00pm. Racing starts at 7:30pm. The cost for admission is $20. Parking is free. Hearing protection is recommended. We are also considering meeting up for an early dinner at TJ Rockwell’s or Cold Springs Inn. Alternatively, concessions are available at the racetrack.

Murray Hall Update

Upcoming Changes to Murray Hall

  • Effective June 19/20th, the 12:00 PM Mass will no longer be streamed to Murray Hall since it had not been used for the last two weeks.
  • We will continue to stream the 4:30 PM and 9:30 AM Masses to Murray Hall through July 3/4 weekend.
  • Our 4:30 PM and 9:30 AM Masses may be viewed via live stream on our website sclhbg.org or our Facebook page.
  • Murray Hall Summer Refresh will begin the week of July 5th in order for work to be completed in time for the 2021-2022 school year.
  • We encourage worshipers who are concerned about being in a crowd to consider attending our 7:30 AM or 7:00 PM. Sunday Masses since they are less heavily attended. There are usually socially distanced seats in the front pews at any given Masses.   Thank you for understanding.

Friday Rosary Walk

A Rosary Walk is being held in the Holy Cross Cemetery (across the street from the church) every Friday morning immediately following the 6:30 a.m. Mass.  It is approximately 20-25 minutes and consists of one of the mysteries of the Rosary.  For all who are interested, please meet in the parking lot directly across from the church.  All are welcome.

New Mass Times begin June 6

Starting June 6, we will move the 7:00AM Sunday Mass forward to 7:30AM. Enjoy more sleep!

Starting June 7, we will add an 8:45 AM Mass on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. The 6:30 AM Mass will be offered Monday through Friday.

This 8:45 AM time splits the difference between the Monday-Thursday 9 AM and the Friday 8:30AM School Mass times and will work better for the school. Holiday and Holy Day Masses previously scheduled for 9 AM will now be held at 8:45 AM, for consistency. It’s also a time that not many parishes offer, so we’re not competing with other parishes for this time.
