Committee Activities
March for Life—Our parish sponsors a bus to the Annual March for Life in Washington, DC, which is typically held on a Friday close to the date of January 22nd , the Roe v Wade Supreme Court decision. Parishioners and friends are welcome to join this peaceful, prayerful gathering of many individuals who join together on this day to show their common respect for the gift of life.
Respect Life Rosary—Ongoing prayer is an important part of promoting the culture of life. Parishioners have an opportunity to pray the rosary at home for this intention. Individuals who participate can have their name added to the parish rosary calendar and commit to praying the rosary on the given date(s).
Baby Bottle Project—The committee coordinates the annual baby bottle collection which benefits the work of Morning Star Pregnancy Services. Baby bottles are distributed and collected during the month of January. Containers will be available in the narthex to the collect bottles.
Mother’s Day Carnation Sale—Our annual carnation sale will be held after all Masses on the weekend of Mother’s Day. A donation of $1.00 per carnation is requested—proceeds benefit Pennsylvanians for Human Life and St. Catherine’s Respect Life Committee.
PA March for Life—Similar to the National March for Life, this gathering is held in September on the grounds of the State Capitol, in order to be a visible witness for life to state lawmakers and other interested citizens.
Morning Star Walk/Run for Life—Morning Star holds a 5K run and a walk fundraising event annually in September on City Island. This is an event for the whole family, including a pancake breakfast and children’s activities. We are hoping to form a parish walking team this year.
Educational Events—The committee provides educational pamphlets and materials on respect life issues to parishioners typically during Respect Life month (October) and in January. Other educational programs (workshops, speakers, etc) in the parish, diocese and the community will be announced as they are scheduled.
