HOLY COMMUNION

Sacramental preparation and religious formation are necessary for children to receive the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist, a sacrament of initiation.  A two year preparation period is required in the Diocese of Harrisburg.  First Holy Communion is traditionally celebrated in the second grade.

However, Sacramental Preparation classes for children, above the second grade, maybe held on Sunday morning from 10:00 – 11:15 a.m.  and would follow the PREP Calendar Schedule.

First Holy Communion is generally celebrated in May.

CONFIRMATION

Sacramental preparation and religious formation are necessary for children celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation, a sacrament of initiation.  A two year preparation period is required in the Diocese of Harrisburg.  Confirmation is traditionally celebrated in the eighth grade.

In addition, candidates are required to attend the Confirmation Retreat, complete required service hours, and submit necessary paperwork on time. Parents and candidates are expected to attend required meetings held throughout the year.

The Sacrament of Confirmation is usually celebrated in the spring.

RECONCILIATION

Sacramental preparation and religious formation are necessary for children to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  A two year preparation period is required in the Diocese of Harrisburg.  First Penance is traditionally celebrated in the second grade.

However, Sacramental Preparation classes for children, above the second grade, may be held on Sunday morning from 10:00 – 11:15 a.m. and would follow the PREP Calendar Schedule.

First Penance is generally celebrated in January or February.
