Harrisburg Young Adult Catholic Friends July Events

Hersheypark: Saturday July 10, 2021 11:00am-8:00pm

After missing it in 2020 due to COVID-19 we’re bringing back the annual Hersheypark day trip. Come for as long or as little as you’d like. Meet by the entrance to Chocolate World at 11:00am. This should be a fun day of rides and fellowship. Group dinner after is also possible at a restaurant to be determined.

Williams Grove: Friday July 16, 2021 5:30pm-11:00pm

This is a new type of event for us, and maybe a new type of event for you, too! Sprint car racing is a motorsport where fields of 10 to 20 custom-built race cars compete on an oval track, advancing through heat races towards the Main event. It’s a great spectacle to see if you’ve never been to one before. Gates open at 5:30pm. Warm ups begin at 7:00pm. Racing starts at 7:30pm. The cost for admission is $20. Parking is free. Hearing protection is recommended. We are also considering meeting up for an early dinner at TJ Rockwell’s or Cold Springs Inn. Alternatively, concessions are available at the racetrack.

Mask Mandate Lifted

In continued alignment with the state health guidelines, the Diocese of Harrisburg has announced effective June 28, 2021, that masking mandates for the unvaccinated have been lifted in all parishes in the Diocese.

While the mandate has been lifted, those who wish to continue wearing a mask are welcome to do so.

Murray Hall Update

Upcoming Changes to Murray Hall

  • Effective June 19/20th, the 12:00 PM Mass will no longer be streamed to Murray Hall since it had not been used for the last two weeks.
  • We will continue to stream the 4:30 PM and 9:30 AM Masses to Murray Hall through July 3/4 weekend.
  • Our 4:30 PM and 9:30 AM Masses may be viewed via live stream on our website sclhbg.org or our Facebook page.
  • Murray Hall Summer Refresh will begin the week of July 5th in order for work to be completed in time for the 2021-2022 school year.
  • We encourage worshipers who are concerned about being in a crowd to consider attending our 7:30 AM or 7:00 PM. Sunday Masses since they are less heavily attended. There are usually socially distanced seats in the front pews at any given Masses.   Thank you for understanding.

Friday Rosary Walk

A Rosary Walk is being held in the Holy Cross Cemetery (across the street from the church) every Friday morning immediately following the 6:30 a.m. Mass.  It is approximately 20-25 minutes and consists of one of the mysteries of the Rosary.  For all who are interested, please meet in the parking lot directly across from the church.  All are welcome.

New Mass Times begin June 6

Starting June 6, we will move the 7:00AM Sunday Mass forward to 7:30AM. Enjoy more sleep!

Starting June 7, we will add an 8:45 AM Mass on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. The 6:30 AM Mass will be offered Monday through Friday.

This 8:45 AM time splits the difference between the Monday-Thursday 9 AM and the Friday 8:30AM School Mass times and will work better for the school. Holiday and Holy Day Masses previously scheduled for 9 AM will now be held at 8:45 AM, for consistency. It’s also a time that not many parishes offer, so we’re not competing with other parishes for this time.

COVID Updates – Forward to Better

Starting May 29, 2021, we will move forward with the following changes:

  • All pews will be open.
  • The exchange of the Sign of Peace is restored.
  • Priests and deacons will no longer be required to wear masks for the entrance and closing processions of Mass. Ministers (ordinary and extraordinary) will be masked to distribute Holy Communion.
  • Holy Water will return to the fonts.

Ongoing Reminders:

  • Masks are required for the unvaccinated.
  • Confessions will remain in Rooms 103 & 109 for the foreseeable future.
  • Murray Hall will remain open for additional seating at the 4:30 PM, 9:30 AM, and Noon Masses.
