The study will use the Augustine Institute’s Lectio series presented by Dr. Brant Pitre.

Session will consist of opening prayer, introduction of the current session topic, a video presentation by Dr. Pitre, followed by a discussion, summary and closing prayer.

There is workbook with daily reflections to deepen our understanding to spend time with during the week.

Unraveling Life Issues: Insurance & Financial Literacy

  •  Have you ever wondered how you could plan better financially for the future, or teach your children how to save?
  • Have you ever tried to figure out life insurance, retirement plans, and the list goes on.
  • Do you have a child with a disability or know someone who does, come hear of assistance opportunities that are available to you.

It can be a daunting task to understand the of world of insurance.  We have someone that can help you better understand this important issue.

We will be joined by Samuel Connahey, Assistant General Agent with the Hutek agency for the K of C, and Davinder Sidhu, Wealth Management Advisor with Grove Wealth Management.

MUSIC MINISTRY

The music program at St. Catherine Labouré is revving up for its fall season! There are many ways for parishioners who feel a calling to music to participate in the music ministry.

  • Shrine Choir sings at 9:30 a.m. Mass from September to May, and rehearses in the church on Wednesday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.  Membership is open to all ages high school and up.
  • Contemporary Choir sings at 7:00 p.m. Mass, and rehearses year round Sunday night at 6:15 p.m. Instrumentalists and singers are all welcome.
  • In the past, the parish has had a Children’s Choir consisting of students in 4th to 8th grade. We would be interested in bringing it back this coming year, if there is enough interest.
  • Cantors sing at the remainder of the Masses each weekend. Singers of all ages are welcome to share their musical gifts at the 4:30 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. Masses.

Women’s Book Club – Coming this Fall

Coming this Fall: Women’s book club.  Join us for 6 weeks of reading, fellowship, and faith-sharing! The group will begin Wednesday, September 21st.  We will be meeting from 6:30-8:00 pm in Room 109.

The first book we will be discussing is Love Like a Saint by Elizabeth Kelly.  In Love Like a Saint, you are invited to be inspired by remarkable saints-virtuous, flawed, and real women who teach us how to surrender to God and be open to his grace. They are students, wives, employees, friends, and will be your companions in your faith journey.

The cost of the book is $14.95 and will be ordered for you upon registration.  To register for the club please complete the form below.

Saint Catherine Laboure Parish is co-sponsoring a Speaker’s Forum to inform Harrisburg area Christians on the Dobbs decision and status of abortion in America post-Roe. The format will include two panels (1 1/2 hour sessions) with topics including legal, medical, social, and spiritual perspectives on abortion and the Dobbs decision.

Coffee and networking opportunities between sessions.

IT Support Technician

Saint Catherine Labouré Parish and School have an immediate opening for an IT Support Technician. This position is part time with the potential to move to full time. 

Applicant must have the:

  • ability to support Windows 10, GSuite/Chromebooks, and iOS
  • knowledge of desktop hardware and software installation/configuration
  • educational media experience (interactive boards, projectors, network printers, document cameras; etc.)
  • hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience
  • ability to support live streaming equipment, digital signage, and phone systems

The IT Support Technician is expected to display good interpersonal skills as they will interact with colleagues from various departments.

In addition, the applicant should demonstrate a desire to learn and a positive attitude, along with the ability to prioritize and work independently.

Required background checks and Mandated Reporter training required.

Part Time Cafeteria Staff

Cafeteria staff will:

  • prepare and serve meals to school age children
  • Clean up cafeteria and kitchen area
  • Maintain inventory as director by cafeteria manager

Hours and days are flexible. Required background checks and Mandated Reporter training required.

Part Time Rectory Cook

We have a need for an individual to prepare nutritious and balanced dinners for our Priests in residence.

  • Pre-portioned meal kits including detailed directions are supplied for part of the week.
  • Some additional menu planning (in coordination with rectory staff) is needed.
  • Must maintain a sanitary work environment along with other relevant tasks will be required.

There is some flexibility in hours although primarily for evening meals which average approximately four days (10 hours) per week.

Required background checks and Mandated Reporter training required.

EPICS stands for Experienced Persons in Christ’s Service but we’re really just a group of 40+ people looking to spend time with others closer to our own life experiences.

We plan on a variety of monthly activities such as dinners, game nights, community service projects, and opportunities for spiritual discussion and reflection.
