“We look to Mary, Mother of HOPE.  With her YES, she opened the door of our world to God!”  Pope Francis

Dear Parents and Guardians,

During her beautiful month of May, may our Blessed Mother inspire us to echo her YES to the Lord in all that we say and do!

Yesterday was a very special annual event for my Congregation, The Sister, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.  On that day, each IHM Sister receives her ministry assignment for the following year.  For many years, it has been an opportunity for me to recommit myself to my current ministry assignment.  This year, however, it is a call to a new beginning in my life as an IHM.

The students know that one of my favorite hymns is called: ” Yes, My Lord.” My “Yes” this year means that I will be leaving Saint  Catherine Labouré Convent and School and going to Saint Aloysius Academy in Bryn Mawr, PA.  I will no longer serve as a Principal, but will be the Director of Spiritual Activities and part of the Admissions Team there.

Farewells and transition times are challenging, but I ask you to reread the quote above from Pope Francis which capitalizes two words: YES and HOPE.

Saint Catherine Labouré is a phenomenal school and parish. Though good-byes are painful, my strongest feelings at this moment are that of gratitude and HOPE.  I am grateful beyond words for all the blessings I have received (especially your children) in the six years I have served as Principal of Saint Catherine Labouré School.  I am also “HOPE-ful” because of the fantastic colleagues with whom I have ministered who will ensure a smooth transition.  Likewise, there are some very exciting plans on the horizon for the summer to make the “best” of Saint Catherine Labouré School “even better.”

Please honor me by welcoming a new principal with the joy and enthusiasm you gave to me.  I wil write a more detailed thank you to all of you before the close of school.

Thank you for everything. You are ever close to my heart in love and prayer.  Please pray for me.

In Mary Lovingly

Sister Mary Anne Sweeney, IHM
