Please note that New Year’s Eve falls on Sunday this year. Masses in the morning of December 31 are for Holy Family Sunday. Masses in the evening of  December 31 are for the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God. In the United States, when a Holy Day falls on a Monday or Saturday (except Christmas and the Immaculate Conception), we should make every effort to attend Mass but the obligation to attend Mass is not in effect if we are unable to do so. This applies to January 1, 2018.
