Boy Scout Troop 23 is comprised of Scouts aged 11 to 18 years old who learn life skills ranging from personal and time management; leadership; organization; communication; family life; and citizenship. In addition, Scouts learn survival skills for use in the wilderness, cooking, emergency management, and physical fitness. The aim of this skill building is to provide guidance and direction throughout the Scout’s life. In Troop 23 the Scouts plan all their activities and receive only guidance and mentorship from their leaders. Through our active program, each Scout is equipped with the skills to succeed in whatever path in life he chooses. The Troop holds weekly meetings at 5:30 p.m. Sunday evenings in the school cafeteria, and participates in monthly campouts, annual summer camps, high adventure outings, frequent community service projects, and quarterly fundraisers. Girl Scouts is open to girls in kindergarten through high school where they discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. Through a myriad of enriching experiences, such as extraordinary field trips, sports skill-building clinics, community service projects, cultural exchanges, and environmental stewardship, girls grow courageous and strong. Girl Scouting helps girls develop their full individual potential; relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect; develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision-making; and contribute to the improvement of society through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others.
